After running a full simulation, is there a way to view the results as kWh or therms consumed per year? For example, I'd like to compare the annual utility savings for different sets of building energy features.
Thanks |

Hello mechIFR,
If I have interpreted your question correctly, then yes there is.
Assuming you want to view the total consumption of elctricity and/or gas for a year, before you run the annual simulation, make sure that Monthly and Annual results is checked. Once the simulation has completed, in the left panel select Interval > Annual and Data > 7-Fuel Totals. For a breakdown of fuel use per end use category (i.e. DHW, lighting, heating etc) select Interval > Annual as before, but select Data > 6-Fuel Breakdown.
To get the actual numbers for fuel consumption, select Show As > 3-Graph & Table or 4-Table.
Hopefully this answers your question and I haven't misunderstood your query. If I have, please reply and clarify what I got wrong and I'll try to help from there.
Best regards and good luck with the modelling,
Andrew Lester |

Exactly what i was looking for, thank you.
Is there a good way to export/save this data instead of transcribing it into an Excel file? Thanks again. |

Hi again,
With the selection of Show As > Table described before, right-click the table and select Export Dialog from the drop-down menu. Then select appropriate options for your needs. If you want the data to go into excel, select text/data then export it to file or to clipboard and go from there!
Best regards,

Hello mechIFR, Andrew,
I would like to know if there is a way to export "in one go" the energy results (kWh) for each zone included in a model, not the whole building.
Basically, can we obtain a table like the one produced for heating and cooling design in the "summary" tab ?
I just hope I do not have to focus on each zone separately and then export.
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Cyril |

Hi Cyril,
I have had a look and so far I have had no luck with this.
The closest things to those results appear to be:
Summary tab in Simulation outputs (which gives you heating and cooling loads for each zone, but not energy consumptions). If you are really only interested in the building's consumption of electricity & gas based on its heating and cooling needs you could possibly use these values and the multipliers (such as CoP) defined in the DesignBuilder Help topic: Calculation of DesignBuilder Output from EnergyPlus Report Variables.
Zone by zone annual results (Interval > 1-Annual) and then identify required parameters.
It may be that someone from DB help can weigh in with a suggestion as to how to get the particular values you need summarised by zone.
Sorry I'm not able to be more help.
Best regards,
Andrew Lester |

You can analize just one zone in particular way ... in the model options needs put the first or second choice in the first option ... i don't remember the names, but the objetive is see the building as a particular zone

We'll look at improving the summary simulation results giving more info per zone but it's unlikely that energy consumption will be provided in v.2 as this is considered to be consumed at the building level by boilers, chillers etc and the split by zone is not carried out.
