1. DesignBuilder SBEM software is provided with our training making the overall package at £1500 (including training, exam, mentoring and software) excellent value for money.
2. Building geometry can be set up extremely quickly using our state-of-the-art 3-D modeller. The modeller is intuitive and easy to use yet provides more modelling power than even the most expensive building modelling software.You can create the building geometry simply by drawing and partitioning 3-D blocks. Blocks can be stretched, cut, copy and pasted etc making the whole process a bit like working with morphable Lego bricks!
3. DesignBuilder allows you to import CAD floor plans or scanned paper drawings to create blocks and partition them into zones. This feature alone can save many hours of painstaking data entry per project.
4. Intelligent defaults can be set for constructions, glazing, lighting, HVAC and DHW at building, block or zone level allowing global settings to be made very easily. This data inheritance system is unique to DesignBuilder and helps to make the workflow process close to optimal.
5. Data entry errors are minimised, further reducing wasted time and embarrassing/costly situations with clients. This is possible through the visual nature of the DesignBuilder data entry and because there is no need for error-prone ‘back of the envelope’ calculations to determine surface and window areas. it's easy to make errors when we are tired, fustrated with data entry and behind schedule on a project, but our users tell us this is much less likely to happen when using DesignBuilder.
6. The correctness of the building description can be checked using the Visualisation screen. This also provides shading analysis and impressive graphic output to aid communication with clients.
7. Seamless interoperability with DesignBuilder EnergyPlus and CFD simulation modules. DesignBuilder SBEM calculations work from the same 3-D building model data as the other DesignBuilder modules. You can switch at any time between SBEM and Simulation modes to obtain the design performance data you require. So once you have finished your SBEM calculation you can generate overheating data (hours where the temperature is over 28ºC) to check the building against Criteria 3 of ADL2. You can readily investigate design alternatives to find cost-effective options giving the best overall performance.
8. Returning to a DesignBuilder model 6 months after data entry is not a problem because the layout of the zones and the meaning of the data is clearly displayed. You will find it easy to pick up where you left off.
